Oklahoma City Comets News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers and American Fidelity Assurance Company are partnering to honor 20 outstanding individuals throughout the 2016 baseball season as All-Stars in Civic Service.
The All-Stars in Civic Service, who will be recognized on the field at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark throughout the season, make differences in their communities by working as municipal employees. They are prime examples of what civic service is all about and work to help create a better place for all to live.
The Dodgers and American Fidelity will recognize three local municipal employees during the Dodgers' current home series against the New Orleans Zephyrs, as part of Public Service Recognition Week. Public Service Recognition Week started in 1985 and has been celebrated annually each May to honor federal, state, county and local government employees.
This week's honorees are:
- Today, May 2 - Mark Landers, who works in the Parks Department for the City of Bethany.
- Tuesday, May 3 - Trey Phillips, who works in the Electric Department for the City of Purcell.
- Thursday, May 5 - Eric Arnold, who works in the Utility Line Division for the City of Bethany.
The Dodgers open their four-game home series tonight against New Orleans at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. This week's honorees will all be recognized on the field after the end of the second inning during their respective games.
