Oklahoma City Comets News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - It's officially time for a new era of Oklahoma City baseball. The Oklahoma City Dodgers will start their inaugural season Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Round Rock Express at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, beginning an eight-game homestand to open the 2015 season.

"With all the changes we've gone through during the offseason, this is the moment everything has been leading up to," said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes. "There's been noticeable excitement and anticipation all around the state for opening weekend, and we're ready to get the 2015 season underway."

Gates will open at 6 p.m. Thursday and all fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:35 p.m. for pregame festivities. New mascots Brooklyn and Brix will make their grand debut and all players for both teams will be introduced.

Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda will get the season started by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. The National Anthem will be performed by Angela Lansdown of Edmond, who was the grand prize winner of The Oklahoman/Oklahoma City Dodgers National Anthem Tryouts.

*Media Note: Media availability with Tommy Lasorda and Pacific Coast League President Branch Rickey III will begin at 5:45 p.m. in front of the home dugout.*

The home opener also marks the first edition of $2 Thursdays, as soft drinks, bottled water, and select 16 oz. beers will be on sale for just $2. And after the game, the OKC Dodgers will have a special season-opening fireworks show.

During the game, the OKC Dodgers and INTEGRIS will present the first "Home Run For Life" honoree of the season following the third inning. The Dodgers and INTEGRIS will recognize Shaquile "Kela" Robinson, a young mother who became the first patient in the state of Oklahoma to undergo a new specialized life support program at INTEGRIS that utilizes extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Thursday is just the start of an eight-game homestand to begin the season. The Dodgers will face Round Rock again Friday night, marking the first Fireworks Friday of 2015. They'll finish their series against the Express Sunday afternoon as part of the first Chaparral Energy Family Sunday. Select players will be on the concourse signing autographs until 30 minutes before game time, and following the game, all kids can run the bases. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.

The OKC Dodgers continue the homestand with a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds April 13-16, with all games starting at 7:05 p.m. The homestand will conclude with another $2 Thursday on April 16.

Limited tickets remain for Opening Night. To purchase tickets for any game during the opening homestand or throughout the entire 2015 season, please call (405) 218-1000, go to okcdodgers.com, or visit the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark box office on S. Mickey Mantle Drive in Bricktown.
