Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers continue their series against the Tacoma Rainiers at 9:05 p.m. CT at Cheney Stadium. The Dodgers lead the series, 2-1, and are trying to avoid back-to-back losses after winning the first two games of the series.

Last Game: The Tacoma Rainiers jumped out to a 6-0 lead through four innings and the deficit was too much to overcome for the Oklahoma City Dodgers, as the Rainiers prevailed, 8-5, Thursday night at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma scored twice in the third inning before plating four more runs in the fourth inning. The Dodgers got on the board in the fifth inning following a two-run double by Miguel Vargas. The Rainiers extended their advantage back to six with two runs in the sixth inning. Jason Martin hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to close the gap to 8-4. Vargas picked up another RBI on a fielder's choice in the ninth inning and the Dodgers rallied to get the tying run to the plate with two outs, but Matt Koch struck out Martin to end the game.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Sam Gaviglio (6-3) makes his ninth start of the season and third in the month of July tonight as he looks to tie Ryan Pepiot's team-leading seven wins...He most recently pitched July 7 against Las Vegas in OKC, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with five hits and four walks and six strikeouts to earn the win during OKC's 11-2 victory. It was his longest scoreless outing since June 6, 2018 for the Toronto Blue Jays against the New York Yankees (7.0 IP)...Over his last four games (two starts), Gaviglio has allowed five runs (four earned) and 14 hits over 16.1 innings for a 2.20 ERA, .230 BAA (14x61) and 1.10 WHIP. He has 18 strikeouts against four walks and the stretch includes two scoreless outings and three games without allowing an earned run...Gaviglio signed as a free agent Jan. 31, 2022 after splitting last year with Triple-A Round Rock and SSG Landers of the KBO in Korea...He made his ML debut May 11, 2017 with the Seattle Mariners at Toronto, striking out the first batter he faced...He was selected by St. Louis in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Oregon State University...Gaviglio last pitched against Tacoma May 22, 2021 while with Round Rock, allowing seven runs and 11 hits over 4.0 innings in a road loss. Gaviglio pitched parts of three seasons with the Rainiers, making 44 appearances (39 starts) from 2015-17.

Against the Rainiers: 2022: 2-1 2021: N/A All-time: 53-51 At TAC: 21-32 The Dodgers and Rainiers meet for their first of two series of 2022 after last playing each other during the 2019 season. Tuesday's game was the first game between the clubs since Aug. 9, 2019 - a span of 1,069 days...Tacoma was the only Triple-A West foe the Dodgers did not play during the 2021 season. The teams were originally scheduled to play in April 2021, but the games were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rainiers went on to win the league title...When the teams last met as part of the 2019 schedule, the Dodgers swept a three-game set at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, outscoring the Rainiers, 23-9. Zach McKinstry had a monster series, going 9-for-11 three doubles and three home runs along with 10 RBI...This week the Dodgers are making their first trip to Tacoma since the 2018 season and OKC is 20-31 all-time at Cheney Stadium...OKC is 2-0-3 against the Rainiers in the last five season series and has not lost a series to Tacoma since the 2014 season (0-4 in Tacoma).

From June Boon to July Blight: The Dodgers own the best record in the Pacific Coast League and remain in first place in the East Division. However, the Dodgers have lost three of their last five games and are 4-8 to start July, including a season-high five-game losing skid to open this month. With last night's loss, the team has equaled the number of losses the Dodgers had in all of June when they posted an 18-8 record. OKC has held sole possession of first place in the East Division since June 5, but since the start of July, their lead has shrunk from 6.0 games to 1.0 game.

Drew Point: Drew Avans notched a team-high three hits last night, going 3-for-5 with a run to extend his season-best on-base streak to 26 games and match his season-high with three hits. His on-base streak is the longest by an OKC player this year and the longest active streak in the PCL. He is one of 10 PCL players to have an on-base streak of 26 games or longer this season and he owns the longest on-base streak by a Dodgers player since the 2019 season when Gavin Lux reached base in 37 consecutive games...Avans has now hit safely in six straight games (10x28), matching his longest hitting streak of the season. He has also hit safely in 22 of the 26 games during his on-base streak and has reached base safely in 40 of his last 41 games...From the start of the season through May 31, Avans batted .235 (20x85) with seven extra-base hits, eight RBI and 15 runs scored over 31 games. Since June 1 (35 games), Avans is batting .321 (43x134) with 10 doubles, four triples, three homers, 18 RBI and 31 runs scored. He also has 16 walks during the stretch...He leads the league with seven triples, while his 14 stolen bases pace OKC players.

Gettin' Miggy With It: Miguel Vargas collected his PCL-leading 100th hit of the season last night with a two-run double in the fifth inning and tied his season high with three RBI. He's now just one of nine players across the Minors with at least 100 hits this season...Vargas' eight-game hitting streak (11x33) is the longest streak by an OKC player and his fifth hitting streak of the season of at least eight games. Vargas has also hit safely in 22 of his last 24 games, batting .351 (34x97) with 10 doubles, three homers, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored...He leads the PCL with 100 total hits and 73 total runs scored this season. His 168 total bases and 64 RBI are second-most in the league, while his 48 walks are tied for second. His 21 doubles are tied for third in the league, while his 38 extra-base hits are fourth...Vargas will miss each of OKC's next three games as he heads to Los Angeles to play in the annual MLB All-Star Futures Game tomorrow. Up to this point, Vargas has played in 85 of the team's 87 games this season.

Busch League: Michael Busch reached base three times Thursday night with a single and two walks to extend his hitting streak to seven games (12x30). It is his second hitting streak of the season with OKC to extend to at least seven games...He has 25 extra-base hits in his 48 games with OKC (15 doubles, 10 homers), accounting for almost half of his total 52 hits...Busch is tied with Jonny DeLuca for the lead among all Dodgers minor leaguers with 21 home runs this season, including 10 with OKC and 11 with Double-A Tulsa, and is one of 15 players in all of the Minors with 21 or more home runs this season....Entering tonight, Busch has reached base at least twice in four straight games, going 7-for-17 with four walks.

J-Mart Special: Jason Martin hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning Thursday night for his team-leading 18th homer of the season. Martin has hit seven homers in his last 14 games and eight homers in his last 16 games. His eight homers since June 25 are most among all Triple-A players and tied for most among all players in the Minors...He has also hit safely in six of his last seven games and nine of his 11 games this month, batting .318 (14x44) with two doubles, five homers, 10 RBI and a team-leading 12 runs scored...Martin's 39 extra-base hits and 60 runs scored are third-most in the PCL this season, while his 18 homers, 157 total bases and five triples are tied for third in the league. His 61 RBI are fourth, his .579 SLG is fifth, his .950 OPS is sixth.

Offensive Remarks: The Dodgers' offense scored five runs in yesterday's loss and have outscored the Rainiers, 28-13, so far this series. The Dodgers have now scored five runs or more in three straight games and look to make it at least four consecutive games for the first time since six-game stretch June 15-21 during which they went 5-1...The Dodgers tallied 10 hits last night and have 38 hits so far in Tacoma...OKC leads all Triple-A teams with 419 walks this season, while their 552 runs, .368 OBP and .831 OPS are second and their .273 AVG and .463 SLG are third...OKC's +85 run differential leads the PCL.

The Runaround: After holding the Rainiers to five runs and nine hits over the first two games of the current series, Tacoma piled up eight runs and 12 hits last night. It marked the eighth time in OKC's 12 games of July that the Dodgers allowed at least seven runs in a game and the seventh time they have allowed at least eight runs in a game...The Dodgers' 8.21 ERA in July is the highest among the 30 Triple-A teams - and second-highest among all full-season Minor League teams - as they have allowed 93 earned runs through 12 games - 18 more earned runs than the next-closest Triple-A team...The Rainiers had 13 at-bats with runners in scoring position last night after totaling just six at-bats with RISP over the first two games of the series. Last night was the 10th time in the last 12 games an opponent had at least 11 at-bats with RISP...Yesterday the bullpen allowed three of four inherited runners to score and has allowed 19 of 35 inherited runners to score this month. In June, only eight of 43 inherited runners scored...In the Dodgers' last nine losses, opponents have scored 97 runs combined.

Breaking Out, Man: James Outman recorded a hit and walk last night as he has hit safely in four straight games as well as in five of his last six games, going 6-for-21 during the six-game stretch with three homers and 11 RBI...On Wednesday, he homered in a second straight game and finished with a career-high five RBI. His grand slam was his second of the season, as he previously hit one for Double-A Tulsa June 21 at Midland. Between OKC and Tulsa, Outman is up to 19 home runs this season, tying his career high (2019), and he went deep in consecutive games for the third time overall this year.

Around the Horn: Hunter Feduccia picked up a hit, walk and scored a run last night and is 6-for-16 with five extra-base-hits over his last four games... Ryan Noda hit a double last night to extend his on-base streak to 11 games - his second on-base streak of the season of at least 11 games. During the stretch, Noda is batting .300 (12x40) with two doubles, a triple, two homers, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and six walks. He reached base in 17 consecutive games April 5-24...The Dodgers are in the midst of a stretch of 15 straight games against West Division foes (4-5). OKC is 15-15 against the West Division this season...The Dodgers have not committed an error in three straight games for the sixth time this season. However, they have only gone four straight games without an error just once this year (May 11-14)...In eight of the Dodgers' last 10 games, the team that scored first led the rest of the game. There's only been one game with a tie and one game with a lead change over those 10 contests.
