Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - A home run by first baseman Jason Vosler and a two-run double by third baseman Wyatt Mathisen provided just enough run support for lefty Enmanuel De Jesus and the Sacramento River Cats (39-48) as they edged the Albuquerque Isotopes (40-47) with a 3-2 victory on Thirsty Thursday.

De Jesus was again excellent on the mound, setting the tone with four strikeouts while surrendering just one hit and two walks over 5.0 shutout frames. The 25-year-old has struck out nine with three hits and four walks allowed over his last two games (9.0 shutout innings).

After the teams traded zeros for the first 5.0 innings, the River Cats broke through in the sixth with three runs.

Vosler kicked off the inning with his 10th homer of the season, which also extended his team-leading hitting streak to 10.

Following two walks and two outs, Mathisen capped off the inning with a clutch two-run double (109.0 MPH exit velocity). Mathisen finished the day 2-for-3 with a walk.

Right-handers Bryan Brickhouse (2-0) and Norwith Gudino allowed a run each over the final 4.0 innings to secure the win.

Righty Sean Hjelle (4-3, 4.81) will try to make it three in a row with a win on Orange Friday. The Giants' No. 26 prospect on MLB Pipeline will take on an Albuquerque TBD at 6:45 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Vosler is 14-for-39 (.359) with 10 runs, two doubles, five home runs, 13 RBIs, and a 1.252 OPS during his 10-game hitting streak.

Rehabbing San Francisco third baseman Evan Longoria, who was playing in his first game since hitting the injured list on July 6 with a left oblique strain, went 1-for-3 with a run, a double, and a walk.
