Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers have found their version of hockey kryptonite. In the sixth meeting of the season against the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night, the Oilers suffered their sixth loss in a 3-1 setback in front of 4,773 at the BOK Center. The Oilers fell to the Mavs for the second time in seven days and concluded their season-long six-game home stand with a 2-3-1 record.

Missouri forward John-Scott Dickson opened the scoring at 1:43 of the first period when he scooped up an Oilers turnover and muscled his way toward Tulsa goalie Shane Madolora. Dickson's shot, the first of the game for Missouri, sneaked past Madolora to give the visitors an early 1-0 edge.

Just over two minutes into the second frame, the Mavericks added to their advantage. Colten Hayes delivered a pass from the corner to the high slot for Obi Aduba who snapped a one-timer over the blocker of Madolora for his sixth goal of the season. Tulsa seized its first power play opportunity of the evening when Nathan Lutz hammered a slap shot through traffic at 3:52 to pull the Oilers back within a goal. Lutz netted his fifth goal of the season and the Oilers snapped out of an 0-for-11 power play drought against the Mavericks. Todd Robinson and Michel Beausoleil assisted Lutz and extended their point streaks to seven games. Trevor Kell pushed the Missouri lead to 3-1 at the 10:37 mark as he finished off a nifty passing play with Colt King.

The Oilers fired 13 shots on net in the third period but Missouri goaltender Shane Owen stood tall to preserve the Mavericks' lead. Missouri improved to 18-1-1 when leading after two periods while Tulsa dropped to 3-14-1 when trailing after 40 minutes.

Tulsa is winless in its last four (0-3-1) and has recorded just five victories in its last 17 outings. The Oilers get another shot at the Mavericks on Saturday night as the two clubs finish their weekend home-and-home series at 7:05 p.m. at the Independence Event Center.
