Bembridge Scores Lone Cutthroats Goal

Vail - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Arizona Sundogs at Dobson Ice Arena on Friday, January 24 for the first game of the weekend Colorado Tour series in Vail. The Sundogs defeated the Cutthroats 4-1.

Arizona opened the night with a goal from Kevin Baker (Matt McCready, Bryan Cameron) to give the Sundogs a 1-0 lead over the Denver Cutthroats and close the opening 20 minutes of play.

Paul McIlveen (Brandon Coccimiglio, David Rutherford) extended the Sundogs lead with a shot past the Cutthroats netminder Travis Bosch. Arizona's Justin Pender (McIlveen, Rutherford) scored the Sundogs third consecutive goal of the night for a 3-0 lead.

Denver Cutthroats Garett Bembridge (Lee Moffie, Troy Schwab) scored the team's first goal of the night and his 31st of the 2013-14 season. After the Cutthroats pulled their goalie in favor of an extra attacker, Rutherford (Andrew Engelage) scored on the empty net to take the game with a final score of 4-1.

The Denver Cutthroats will conclude the Colorado Tour on Saturday, January 25 at Dobson Ice Arena against the Arizona Sundogs. Prior to puck drop, the Cutthroats will host a free youth hockey clinic from 1:00 - 3:30 PM at Dobson Ice Arena. Puck drops at 6:00 PM. Visit or call 866.464.2626 for ticket information.
