Oilers Send Zack Stortini Back To Bulldogs

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers announced today that the club has sent forward Zack Stortini back to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League and reassigned winger Troy Bodie to the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. Stortini is scheduled to arrive in Hamilton tonight and practice with the Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m.

Stortini, 21, has appeared in 29 games with the Oilers this season, posting a goal and 105 penalty minutes. The native of Elliot Lake, Ontario, registered 10 penalty minutes in his first National Hockey League game on January 20th, 2007 against the Calgary Flames and scored his first-career NHL goal on February 6th, 2007 versus the Vancouver Canucks.

In 43 games with Hamilton in the AHL this season, Stortini has recorded career-highs in points (15) and goals (9), and still leads the team with 172 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound forward has played 109 career AHL games with the Bulldogs, the former Toronto Roadrunners, the Iowa Stars and the Milwaukee Admirals, collecting 25 points (11-14-25) and 440 penalty minutes.

Stortini was selected by Edmonton in the 3rd round, 94th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Bodie, 22, has appeared in 20 games with the Bulldogs this season, collecting an assist and 29 penalty minutes. The native of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, played in his first AHL game on February 23rd, 2007 against the Syracuse Crunch and picked up his first-career AHL point, an assist, on March 30th, 2007 versus the Grand Rapids Griffins.

In 46 games with the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL, Bodie has collected 38 points (21-17-38), 80 penalty minutes with a plus-14 rating this season.

The 6-foot-4, 219-pound winger was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 9th round, 278th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.
