
Oilers Re-Assign Three to Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers re-assigned forwards Philippe Cornet, Ryan Martindale and Toni Rajala to the Oklahoma City Barons, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Cornet, a 6-0, 196-pounder from Val-Senneville, PQ was previously re-assigned to Oklahoma City on November 22 when he played in eight games. With Stockton this season, he has 24 points (9-14-23) and is +8. Cornet, the Oilers 5th round draft choice (133rd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has played the previous two seasons with the Barons. In 135 career games with the Barons, he has 60 points (31-29-60). Last season, he led the Barons in goals with 24 and was named to the Western Conference AHL All Star Squad.
Martindale, a 6-3, 207-pounder from Oshawa, Ontario has played in seven games this season with the Barons, registering three assists. With Stockton this season, he has registered two goals in five games. The Oilers 3rd round draft choice (61st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft has played in 62 games as a pro between Oklahoma City and Stockton. In those games, he has 22 points (8-14-22).
Rajala, a 5-9, 170-pounder from Tampere, Finland, has played five games with the Barons. During that stint, Rajala had one goal and an assist. The Oilers' fourth-round selection (101st overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft has spent the majority of the season in Stockton. He leads the team in scoring with 38 points (18-20-38), while his goals and point totals put him in the top 10 in each category in the ECHL.
The Barons return home for three games this weekend. Oklahoma City faces off against the Charlotte Checkers, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The Barons take on the Texas Stars in a Sunday afternoon game at 4 p.m. The first 2,000 fans through the doors Friday receive a Barons Hockey Stick courtesy of Loves and Frito Lay. Friday night also features $1 hot dogs and $2 16-ounce draft beers.
The team continues its Drive Away Every Saturday promotion on Saturday, January 12 as one lucky fan will win a brand-new Ford Edge. Fans can skate with the team following Sunday afternoon's game and enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 regular-size soft drinks.
