
Oilers Linebacker Earns All-IFL First Team Defense Award

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa Oilers Football, proud member of the IFL, in conjunction with the IFL, announce that Oilers' linebacker Jordan Jones has been awarded a 2023 All-IFL First Team Defense selection.
Jones, is coming off of a 2023 ALL-Rookie Team selection back on July 24 and is now adding another bright spot to his season with his second end-of-season award this month.
The rookie sensation was a bright spot during the Tulsa Oilers' inaugural season. In fourteen games, the Tulsa linebacker led the IFL with 113 tackles, the nearest behind him at just 95.5 tackles.
Of the 113 tackles, 85 of them were solo, with an addition of two sacks and five pass breakups, and three interceptions to bolster the Oilers' rookie status.
"It is hard to dispute who the best linebacker was this year. It was certainly Jordan Jones," said head coach Marvin Jones. "It is great that he captured two major awards in the same season. It just goes to show you what type of a player he is no matter what the circumstances."
Jones comes off a Defensive Rookie of the Year performance in 2022 with the Omaha Beef of the CIF, compiling 69 tackles, three being for loss, 1.5 sacks, a pass breakup, a blocked kick, and an interception. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native also played with the Green Bay Blizzard of the IFL in 2022, suiting up in two games and picking up three tackles.
Prior to his Beef and Blizzard career, the 6'1, 250 lbs. defensive standout played collegiately at the University of Western Alabama. The former Tiger made 211 tackles over 43 games, with 17 sacks, five forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
