Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers will be heading to San Jose, Calif., to take on the Bay Area Panthers for the Indoor Football League Western Conference Championship Game, on Saturday evening.

During the first round of the IFL Playoffs, the Wranglers pulled of the upset of the Arizona Rattlers, in enemy territory, by a score of 62-53. The Wranglers played a complete game in all three phases, and will need another performance like that to win and advance to The Dollar Loan Center IFL National Championship Game. The Bay Area Panthers defeated the Tucson Sugar Skulls by a score of 46-34 to advance. The Wranglers will face off against the Panthers for the third time this season, with this game obviously holding the highest importance.

The Wranglers and Panthers split their series 1-1 during the 2023 regular season. The Wranglers played the Panthers for the first time on the road this season and lost by a score of 47-13. During their most recent meeting back on May 13th, the Wranglers got a thrilling victory at home by a score of 35-34. The game will be intense and hard-fought just as the matchup was in Prescott Valley, Ariz. The Wranglers know that the regular season matchups mean virtually nothing at this point in the season, and just need focus on getting the win to go 1-0 this Saturday.

The Wranglers played their best game of the season during the first round of the IFL Playoffs and will be looking to build off that momentum this postseason. The Wranglers defensive unit forced six turnovers and scored two touchdowns. Northern Arizona also scored a season high 62 points, which came at a perfect time for the Wranglers to continue their 2023 playoff run.

The Wranglers will be battling against some familiar faces to their 2022 National Championship run, with head coach Les Moss coaching against his former defensive coordinator Rob Keefe. The Wranglers are ready to rise to the challenge of slowing down an explosive Panthers offense. The Wranglers defense shut down the top ranked scoring offense just last week, taking down the top seeded Rattlers to advance. The Wranglers have proven that they can beat anyone in the league, and will be fired up to play the Panthers on the road. Both teams have great coaches, and a lot of talent on their rosters, as the game looks to be a competitive one.
