Oilers Go For The Goalie
August 18, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers have achieved one of their biggest off-season goals by signing a guy who hopefully won't allow too many. This afternoon former 32nd overall pick in the NHL draft, Evan Lindsay, signed to play goalie for the Oilers.
In 1997, the 6'1" Alberta native was drafted in the second round by the Calgary Flames, then again in the fourth round by Montreal two years later.
"He is exactly the kind of guy we have been looking to get all off-season," says head coach Butch Kaebel.
Also weighing in at 210 pound, Lindsay will cover a lot of net; adds Kaebel, "His physique is perfect considering how agile he is. It's not often you can find a guy his size with his mobility."
Lindsay's best full season came with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL in 1998-99 when he posted a .905 save percentage. Last year Lindsay played with the London Racers of the EIHL.
