
Oil Kings Take Single Point in OT Loss

Prince George, BC - The Edmonton Oil Kings ran into a hot goaltender falling 5-4 in overtime on Friday night in Prince George. Cougars goaltender Drew Owsley posted 48 saves as the Oil Kings out shot PG 52-38 but were unable to pull out the overtime win. A wild third period saw both teams total five goals under four minutes apart with the Oil Kings holding a 5-4 lead until midway through the third. Campbell Elynuik scored the OT winner for the Cougars.
The Oil Kings were led by team scoring leader Michael St. Croix. St.Croix posted his 27th multi point game of the season with two goals and an assist. He has totaled 87 points on the season to tie him for third in the WHL scoring race. Dylan Wruck and Rhett Rachinski score the other goals for Edmonton while rookie goaltender Tristan Jarry made 33 saves.
The Edmonton power play was 2 for 6 on the night while holding the Cougars to 0 for 2 with the man advantage. Edmonton continues to sit alone atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 36-12-3-4 for 79 points.
The Oil Kings will have the opportunity for a rematch right away as they take on these same Cougars tomorrow night. Puck drop in Prince George is 8 PM MST. Next week will see the Oil Kings take on the Western Conference leading Kamloops Blazers on Tuesday before rounding out their road trip with games in Kelowna on Wednesday and Friday in Vancouver.
