Oil Kings Sebastian Cossa Drafted 15th Overall by Detroit Red Wings

Edmonton, AB - The Detroit Red Wings selected Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender Sebastian Cossa with their first-round selection, 15th-overall, on the first day of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Cossa, 18, finished this past season with a record of 17-1-0-1 to go along with a 1.57 goals against average, .941 save percentage and four shutouts. He finished first amongst WHL goalies in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts. He was named the 2021 Oil Kings MVP and the WHL's Central Division Goaltender of the Year.

In his career, the 6-foot-6, 203-pound netminder has appeared in 52 career games compiling a record of 38-7-2-2 with a 1.98 goals against average, .928 save percentage and eight shutouts. He ranked third all-time in shutouts (8) and fourth all-time in wins (38) amongst Oil Kings goalies.

The Fort McMurray native becomes the 21st Oil Kings player in modern franchise history to be selected in the NHL Draft, the seventh to be selected in the first round and third goaltender to be drafted.
