Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings, along with their partners at Windsor Plywood Leduc, are pleased to announce a donation of $3000 to Kids Kottage Edmonton.
This season, Oil Kings captain Scott Atkinson, teammate Liam Keeler and corporate partner Windsor Plywood Leduc came up with the 'PK's for Charity' initiative to raise money for a local charity through the team's successful penalty-kills. The three decided on Kids Kottage Edmonton for their inaugural season of the initiative citing their desire to help our community's youth.
For every successful Oil Kings penalty-kill this season, Windsor Plywood Leduc agreed to donate $25 to Kids Kottage. This year the team finished the WHL season with the league's second-best penalty-kill by killing off 76 of the 88 times they were shorthanded for an 86.4% efficiency rating and a donation total of $1900. Windsor Plywood Leduc stepped up even further by adding an additional $1100 to their donation to bring the grand total to $3000.
Kids Kottage Foundation is Edmonton and area's only crisis prevention and intervention shelter for infants and children.
Their mission is to ensure every infant and child is kept safe, and their families are provided with the resources they need to build a strong and resilient future. They operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year ensuring children's basic needs are met and connecting their caregivers with the resources they need.
