Oil Kings Acquire Mason Finley from Calgary

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired 2004-born forward Mason Finley from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a conditional 2023 eighth-round draft pick, the club announced today.

Finley, 17, is entering his second season in the WHL after appearing in 40 games with the Hitmen last year, tallying 11 points (2G, 9A), a +1 plus/minus rating and eight penalty minutes.

The Kelowna, BC product was originally drafted by the Hitmen in the fifth round, 101st overall, of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound forward is the younger brother of former Winnipeg ICE forward and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Jack Finley, the older brother of Moose Jaw Warriors prospect Max Finley and the son of former long-time NHLer Jeff Finley.

The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is their regular season and home opener against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, September 23 when they will raise their 2021-22 WHL Championship banner to the Rogers Place rafters.
