Kingston Frontenacs News Release

The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Kingston Frontenacs' forward Cory Emmerton is the OHL Player of the Week for the first week of the regular season. He scored four goals and added four assists for eight points to lead Kingston to two wins last week.

Emmerton opened his 2006-07 season by scoring two goals and adding three assists to pace the Frontenacs to a 9-5 victory over the visiting Ottawa 67's. Two days later he led Kingston to a 6-3 road win over the Oshawa Generals, scoring two goals and three points. Emmerton was named the first star of the game in both contests.

A second round pick of the Detroit Red Wings, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Emmerton had a strong week at both ends of the ice. Last season, Emmerton led the OHL with a final plus/minus rating of +37. He has begun this season right where he left off last year by posting a +3 rating in the opening week of the season.
