March 8, 2004 - California League (CalL1)
High Desert Mavericks News Release
ADELANTO, CA â Ed McMahon won't be there, but the Mavs will still be searching for a star. The High Desert Mavericks Baseball Club will hold official National Anthem tryouts for the 2004 season on Saturday, March 13. Tryouts will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Friendly Mavericks Stadium, so no appointment is needed.
National Anthem singers will be expected to perform the anthem from memory, while singing without musical accompaniment. Performers are encouraged to bring earplugs due to the extreme sound delay in the stadium's sound system. Musicians that can perform the national anthem on an instrument are also encouraged to come and tryout.
The Mavericks have 70 home games during the 2004 season and will need to find 15 to 20 performers, to sing or play the National Anthem throughout the year. Information and details about the National Anthem tryouts can be obtained by calling Staci Burns at the Mavericks office at 760-246-6287.
The Mavs home opener is Monday Apr. 12 at 7 p.m. when the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes visit Friendly Mavericks Stadium. Opening night will feature a clothing drive to benefit disadvantaged youth and the traditional spectacular post-game fireworks show, all sponsored by The Alpha Connection Youth and Family Services. The 2004 California League regular season begins on Thursday, Apr. 8 as the Mavs travel to Lancaster to take on the Jethawks. Season tickets and mini plans are still available by calling 760-246-MAVS or online at www.hdmavs.com. 2004 individual game tickets will go on sale on Friday, March 26 at 9am at Mavericks Stadium. Call 246-MAVS for information.
All Mavericks regular season games can be heard live on 910 AM and on the net at www.hdmavs.com thanks to Live 365.com, with the new Voice of the Mavs, Roxy Bernstein.
