Oaks Team with Rotary on Used Sporting Good Drive

VISALIA – Just in time for spring-cleaning, the Downtown Visalia Rotary Club and the Visalia Oaks have teamed up to hold a used sporting goods drive.

Sporting goods of all kinds will be accepted and donated to the Boys and Girls Club, the Pro Youth/HEART Program, the Visalia YMCA and Visalia Emergency Aid.

Several items in particular have been requested by those organizations. Among them are:
- Basketballs
- Soccer Balls
- Hula hoops
- Youth Cleats
- Jump Ropes
- T-Ball Equipment
- Golf Balls
- Beach Balls
- Volleyballs
- Gloves
- Footballs
- Baseball Bats
- Kick Balls

The drive will be centered around contributions made at the Downtown Rotary's next meeting at noon on Wednesday, March 10 at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Visalia. Donations will be accepted through Saturday, March 20 at the Oaks' office, located at 440 North Giddings Street.

"This is a unique project that fits into our goal as a club," explained Eric Black, president of the Visalia Downtown Rotary Club. "Part of Rotary's objective is to serve the community and this is a tremendous way to do accomplish that."

Office hours for the Visalia Oaks are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Help Wanted: The Oaks are looking for part time workers to fill several positions on game days throughout the 2004 season, which opens on Thursday, April 8. Applications can be obtained at the Oaks office during regular business hours.
