Keene Swamp Bats News Release

In what turned out to be a pitcher's duel on Wednesday night, it was Keene's Brian O'Grady who scored the only run of the game on a seventh inning solo blast to give the Swamp Bats a 1-0 victory of the Plymouth Pilgrims.

Keene again got another fantastic performance from its starting pitcher, this time by Hartford's Brain Hunter.

Hunter went seven scoreless innings, allowing only four base runners all game on three hits and walk while racking up a season high ten strikeouts.

Plymouth's starter Mike Adams was equally impressive, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning.

But Rutgers' Brian O'Grady led of the bottom of the seventh with a solo shot off the scoreboard in right center field to put the first run of the game on the board and spot Keene a 1-0 lead.

Hunter's day was done after seven innings as Sam Triece out of Washington State University came on in the top of the eighth to replace him. Triece was able to get out of a jam with runners on the corners to keep the game at 1-0 heading to the ninth.

Triece came back on in the ninth and worked another scoreless inning, sealing the 1-0 victory for the Swamp Bats and notching his first save of the season.

The victory is Keene's fourth straight and sees its record improve to 16-13 as the Swamp Bats are continually for the first time this season climbing the ladder above .500.

The Vermont Mountaineers come to town on Thursday night in a battle of first and second place teams in the Western Division. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
