Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

Missoula, MT. - The Missoula PaddleHeads went into the top of the ninth inning with a one-run advantage over the Ogden Raptors on Friday night in game 3 of a 6-game set. Mark Simon was sent to the mound looking for his third save in as many nights. After the lead off man would reach base, Jakob Goldfarb would get into the box representing the lead run. The Pioneer League homerun leader would add to his total in the clutch situation hitting his tenth bomb of the season which would ultimately give the Raptors a 6-5 win.

Ogden would start out quickly in the early innings as Andy Armstrong launched a home run over the left field wall to lead off the ballgame. Starting pitcher Mason Schwellenbach would settle in over the four innings however as the Raptors would only score once more going into the sixth inning.

Missoula would take their first lead of the night in the sixth thanks to a four-run rally. Zach Almond would get the party started leading the inning off with an opposite-field blast to rightfield. Almond would finish 2-for-4.

Sam Troyer would give the PaddleHeads the lead later in the frame on a double that would bring home a pair and would later score on an RBI groundout.

The PaddleHeads would look to add to their one run lead in the eighth inning as both Dean Nevarez, and McClain O'Connor would reach base hitting in front of Cameron Thompson. Thompson would single sending Nevarez racing toward home trying to score. Right fielder Josh Broughton would be up to the task however throwing out Nevarez at the plate. It would prove to be a defining play in the game as the Raptors would score two in the next half inning to take the lead for good.

Missoula (21-9) will look to bounce back in game four of this six game slate opposite the Raptors (21-9) on Saturday night. The PaddleHeads plan to hand the ball off to Domingo Pena who will also be looking for a bounce back outing after suffering his first loss of the season on the mound on Monday opposite the Chukars.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Catch the action on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M. and SWX Montana.
