Ofukany, Detulleo Clutch In Shootout Loss

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Colorado Eagles at the Kansas Coliseum on Sunday evening.

Trailing 2-1 in the third, Troy Ofukany potted the game-tying goal with 6:20 left in regulation. Ofukany received a backdoor pass across the slot from Marc Belanger. Wichita down to its last shot in the fifth round, Glenn Detulleo deked goaltender Andrew Penner to tie the shootout at 2-2. After Penner turned Ofukany aside in the sudden death sixth round, Aaron Schneekloth beat Jon Horrell to win the game for Colorado.

Wichita struck first when Kevin Truelson connected on his first goal of the season at 2:58 in the first period. The Eagles took advantage of two power play goals in the third to take a 2-1 lead before Ofukany's score later in the period.

Jon Horrell starred for a third straight night, saving 21 of 23 during regulation and overtime, and carrying a shutout into the third. Penner stopped 15 of 17 Thunder shots. Wichita went 1 for 4 on the power play while Colorado was 2 for 5.

The Thunder hits the road this week, playing two at Rapid City on Friday and Saturday.
