Chris Cody turned in a fabulous seven innings, but the York Revolution suffered another close, low-scoring defeat, falling 2-1 to the Bridgeport Bluefish in their home opener at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Friday evening. The Revs will look to snap a two-game skid on Saturday evening in the next-to-last game of their current road trip, before returning home to open a 10-game homestand on Tuesday.

The Revs forged an early lead on an RBI fielder's choice by Brian Burgamy in the top of the third inning, but that lead was short-lived. The Revs were held to just three hits on the night, only one over the final six innings, and the Bluefish put together an immediate answer.

Austin Krum reached on an error by shortstop Andy Gonzalez in the bottom of the third. Cody then had Krum caught stealing on a pickoff move to first, but his throw was low, and Burgamy was unable to get off a relay to second. After the stolen base, Krum advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Brandon Chaves' groundout to short on a ball that barely eluded Cody's outstretched glove, as the Bluefish tied the game at 1-1, scoring an unearned run without benefit of a hit.

The Revs threatened in the top of the sixth, but failed to score despite four batters reaching base in the inning. Burgamy led off with a single but was picked off by Bluefish starter Hunter Jones. The lefty proceeded to walk the bases loaded before departing the game with two outs, but reliever Adam Carr retired Patrick Arlis on a flyout to leave all three runners on base.

Cody worked out of trouble in the sixth inning himself, stranding a pair of runners, but in the seventh, a one-out walk to Luis Lopez was followed by a key single to right-center from Matt Spencer. Krum then came through with a sacrifice fly to center, plating Lopez with the decisive run.

Cody (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on just four hits in seven innings. Carr (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Bridgeport. Jeff Fulchino netted his fourth save with a perfect ninth, his third save against the Revs on the young season.
