July 29, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
The Owlz lost a 3-1 pitcher's duel on Monday night to the Grand Junction Rockies.
The Owlz pitching held Grand Junction scoreless through five innings, but in the sixth inning the Rockies took the lead scoring their only runs of the night. After the Rockies walked to load the bases a wild pitch scored the game's first run, and then a single grounded to center field added two more runs to their lead.
The Owlz were looking to get back into the game when Wade Wass hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom half of the seventh inning.
The Owlz were within striking distance heading into the last third of the game, but they were unable to produce anything offensively.
Arjenis Fernandez got the start for the Owlz and went five-plus innings recording three strikeouts. Jonah Wesely and Alex Klonowski took to the mound in relief and threw four innings of shutout baseball combined.
Bo Way went 1-for-3, which included a double to left center and a walk.
The Owlz will take on Grand Junction in the final game of a short two-game series at home Tuesday night at 7:05 pm.
