
Offense Shines as Cutters Crush Spikes

The Williamsport Crosscutters racked up a season-high 18 hits in a resounding 13-3 victory over the State College Spikes on Sunday night at Medlar Field.
The Cutters broke a scoreless game wide open in the third, racking up a Medlar Field-record seven straight hits in the inning. Harold Martinez's three-run triple was the highlight of the frame, as the Cutters went up 6-0.
State College got a pair of runs back in the fourth, as Wes Freeman's two-out, two-run single made it 6-2.
Williamsport picked up five more runs in the fifth, as Maikel Franco and Pete Lavin knocked RBI doubles to help their team go up 11-2.
The Spikes picked up a run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Dan Gamache. The Cutters answered with a run in the seventh and another in the eighth to push their lead to 13-3.
With the win, the Cutters move to half a game back behind Brooklyn in the Wild Card standings. Williamsport heads home to take on Mahoning Valley on August 29 and 30. Every game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
