Scrappers Score Nine Straight to Down Jammers, 9-2

NILES, Ohio - The Jamestown Jammers scored the ï¬Ârst two runs on Sunday evening's contest against Mahoning Valley, but the Scrappers scored the ï¬Ânal nine to best the Jammers, 9-2.
The Jammers jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the ï¬Ârst inning; however, Mahoning Valley scored three in the bottom of the frame to take the lead before breaking it open in the later innings. The Jammers end their 12-game road trip at 4-7 after having one of the games cancelled.
Josh Adams and Viosergy Rosa paced the Jamestown offense with a pair of singles, while Austin Barnes and Terrence Dayleg both had a double.
Barnes got things started for Jamestown in the top of the ï¬Ârst with a double. Then, Brian McConkey walked, and Adams singled to load up the bases before Eddie Rodriguez smacked a two-run single to right.
Mahoning Valley immediately answered. Francisco Lindor, who was the Cleveland Indians ï¬Ârst- round pick this year, had an inï¬Âeld single in his ï¬Ârst professional at bat to start the rally. Jake Lowery roped a double, and Jordan Smith walked to ï¬Âll the bases. Todd Hankins scored one run with a single and another came in when the ball got away from center ï¬Âelder Marquise Cooper to tie the game. Jake Lavisky followed with a RBI ground out to give the Scrappers the lead.
Jamestown grounded into a pair of double plays in the second and third to end scoring opportunities, which allowed Mahoning Valley to tack on two runs to the lead in the fourth. Jerrud Sabourin had a RBI triple and scored on a John Barr single in the frame.
In the top of the seventh, Jamestown had its best opportunity to tie the game. Barnes was beaned, McConkey walked and Adams singled to ï¬Âll the bases, but Terrence Dayleg bounced into a double play to keep the Jammers off the board.
After Jamestown failed to to take advantage of its chance, Mahoning Valley pushed across two more insurance runs in the bottom half. Lowery had a RBI single, and Wolters hit a sacriï¬Âce ï¬ây to account for the offense.
The Scrappers had two more runs score in the eighth on a John Barr double and a bases-loaded hit by pitch to cap the offensive outburst.
Barr and Lowery recorded two hits, including a double, with two RBI for Mahoning Valley, while Will Krasne earned the win after throwing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
Tom Peale took the loss for the Jammers. He gave up ï¬Âve runs and six hits in four innings with two strikeouts.
Jamestown now returns home after completing the 12-game road trip to host Auburn at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
