Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Stockton, CA-- Rancho Cucamonga's offense came back to life on Wednesday evening, as they pounded the Stockton Ports in the final game of the three-game series, winning 10-6 at Banner Island Ballpark.

Noah Perio smashed a pair of home runs, as the Quakes cranked three round-trippers and posted 14 hits on the night, in winning their second straight game over the Ports.

Perio enjoyed just his second career two-homer game, as he finished the night with four RBIs, giving him three home runs and a total of ten RBIs in just six games as a Quake. His first of the night came in the first inning against Ports' starter Kyle Friedrichs, giving Rancho a 2-0 edge.

Johan Mieses blasted his team-leading 20th homer of the year to open the second, putting Rancho in front 3-0.

Quakes' starter Felipe Gonzalez was a little up and down on Wednesday, as he allowed a total of three runs over 4 1/3 innings. Joe Bennie opened the second inning with his first of two home runs on the night, making it 3-1.

Perio went deep again in the third, another two-run shot to give Rancho a 5-1 advantage against Friedrichs (3-5).

The Ports got two back in the bottom of the fourth though, as Sandber Pimentel took Gonzalez deep with a man aboard, closing the gap to 5-3.

Rancho busted the game wide open in the sixth though, plating five runs to take a commanding 10-3 lead. RBI hits from Mieses, Ariel Sandoval, Garrett Kennedy and Erick Mejia highlighted the inning.

Quakes' reliever David Reid-Foley, who got a big double-play ball to help end the fifth for Gonzalez, surrendered a solo-shot to Bennie in the bottom of the sixth, as the Ports made it 10-4.

An error and a home run by Stockton's John Nogowski in the last of the ninth tightened things up a bit at 10-6, as Corey Copping got the final three outs to end it.

Reid-Foley (1-1) notched the win in relief with a total of 1 2/3 innings pitched.

The Quakes (21-19, 63-47) will head to High Desert after taking two of three to open the road trip in Stockton. On Thursday night, the Quakes will send lefty Wes Helsabeck (1-1) to the mound, while the Mavs will go with David Ledbetter (5-7). First pitch from game one in Adelanto will be 7:05pm.
