Off-Ice Officials Ready for Tenth Anniversary Season in Reading

Reading, PA - The Off-Ice Officials who work ECHL games at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, held their annual pre-season meeting last night at The Works at Wyomissing. Reading Royals General Manager Mark Wallace, Royals Broadcaster Mark Thompson, and Off-Ice Official Crew Chief Jasin Garner addressed the crew in preparation for the 2010-11 ECHL season. ECHL off-ice officials are responsible for maintaining game statistics, as well as serving under the direction of the on-ice officials in the management of several critical elements in game operations including maintaining the in-arena time clock, managing the penalty boxes, and serving as goal judges.

"As the Royals' organization prepares for our Tenth Anniversary Season, we want to extend a special thanks to the ECHL off-ice crew who are such an important part in the operation of our games at the Sovereign Center," said Wallace. "The off-ice officials in Reading carry out their duties with a level of professionalism and commitment that makes our entire organization proud."

For Garner, who has been the off-ice crew chief in Reading for eight consecutive seasons, this is his tenth year working ECHL games at the Sovereign Center. Garner, Bill Kauffman and Jim Lilac have worked as off-ice officials in Reading since the inception of the team in the 2001. Additional members of the Reading off-ice crew include: Mike Asroff, Cliff Bauman, Gary Distasio, Sean Frey, Bob Gounder, Ted Harbison, Bob Heller, Scott Henry, Scott Hewitt, Ray Hinsey, T.J. Jones, Greg Kochenash, Ron Kohler, Mark Magruder, Chris Pastor, John Pogera, Scott Rathman, Tony Sapan, Kevin Snyder, Mark Taylor, Dalton Tice and Andrew Unger.

The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center.
