Odessa Jackalopes News Release

ODESSA, TX - For the second straight night in a row the Jackalopes gave up a string of power play goals to the Corpus Christi IceRays in the second and third periods. Unlike last night though, these goals did not sink the Jackalopes chances or cost them the game, but instead put the game well out of reach.

The Jackalopes fell to the IceRays 6-1 in their first consecutive loss at the Ector County Coliseum this season.

The Rays jumped on the Jacks early, scoring two goals in the first 61 seconds of the game to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Rays would add one more after a power play had expired to make it 3-0 off a shot that ricocheted off a Jackalope.

Shortly thereafter though Odessa struck back.

Carl Skarstrom received a pass at center and then fed a streaking Jared Christy who had gotten in behind the Corpus defense.

Christy found himself in all alone with the goaltender and scored with a wrist-shot that sailed into the top corner. Christy's second goal in two nights gave the Jacks much need momentum down 3-1 after the first period.

But the Rays smothered the Jackalopes the rest of the way. After denying the Jacks on two power play attempts in the second the Rays capitalized on two power play goals in the second period to put themselves up 5-1.

In the third period the Rays added another power play goal for good measure to extend their lead to 6-1.

The Jacks have now dropped their last four games (all to Corpus Christi) which is a new long of the season.

The Jackalopes will close out the series with the IceRays on Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum. Face-off is set for 7:11 pm.
