Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Hartford Yard Goats, 9-4, on Friday night.

Hartford scored early and often in the contest, plating three runs in the second inning.

They added four more in the next frame with a grand slam from Kyle Datres. Hartford led 7-0.

Reading battled back in the top of the four as Ali Castillo singled to start things off. Jhailyn Ortiz was hit by a pitch to get aboard. Logan O'Hoppe drove in the R-Phils first run of the game and then everyone came home on Josh Ockimey's blast that reached the second deck. The R-Phils trailed 7-4.

The Yard Goats kept the runs coming with black to back innings with homers. Ezequiel Tovar and Willie MacIver left the yard for a 9-4 lead where it stayed for the rest of the contest.

Noah Skirrow threw two innings but was struck in the leg and left the game with a runner on in the third. He allowed four hits and four runs (three earned).

Mike Adams took over, with the inherited run, walked two batters and allowed the grand slam. He also let up a solo shot in his next frame, but struck out four Yard Goats.

Jack Perkins took the next three. After a solo shot in the fifth, the righty sent down Hartford quietly in the sixth and seventh. He struck out four as well.

Austin Ross pitched a clean ninth.
