Orange County SC News Release

IRVINE, Calif. - After the first match of the 2016 USL season, Orange County Blues FC is pleased to officially announce the signings of Akwafei Ajeakwa, Mats Bjurman, and Joe Baccielo.

Ajeakwa is coming off a brief stint in England, where he played for Biggleswade United in the Spartan's South Midlands League. The 5'7" forward from Gardena, California played collegiate soccer at Chico State. He made an impressive debut for the OC Blues in the 2016 home opener against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, coming off the bench and earning "Man of the Match" honors after repeatedly breaking through Vancouver's back line and creating chances.

Mats Bjurman is a local product who has experience both at Anteater Stadium and within the OC Blues organization. During his college days at UC Irvine, Bjurman was named to the All-Big West 2nd Team and also played with OC Blues U-23s in the Premier Development League (PDL). A midfielder from Irvine, Bjurman signed to the OC Blues just days before the season started, and worked his way into the starting lineup on opening night.

Joe Baccielo is a 6'1" forward from Stratford Connecticut, who signs with the OC Blues after an impressive trial with the club during the preseason. Baccielo made a name for himself at Post University where he is the program leader in both career goals and total points. He won multiple league titles in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) before joining AC Connecticut of the PDL. His standout performances in the PDL led to his trial with the OC Blues, and then Baccielo found himself in the Starting XI on opening night against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.

Season seats and single game tickets for the OC Blues 2016 campaign are now on sale. Please call 949-333-0418 or email seats@ocbluesfc.com for more information.
