Saint Louis FC News Release

LAST TIME OUT: In its season opener, Saint Louis FC traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to square off with the Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday, March 26. The match was a back and forth affair that saw chances for both sides with neither able to capitalize until Monarchs' second half substitute, Maikon Orellana, drove home a goal in added time to seal the victory for the hosts. The match was delayed 20 minutes as Monarchs rookie midfielder, Omar Holness collapsed from a seizure in the 34th minute and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and released later that night.

Saint Louis ended the night with four shots on goal to SLC's two. Defender James Musa and Midfielder Chad Bond each accumulated a yellow card as well.

THE OPPONENT: LA Galaxy II began its third USL season Saturday night by defeating Arizona United SC to secure its first win of the 2016 campaign. Ariel Lassiter, the leading scorer for Los Dos in 2015, picked up where he left off and accounted for both goals in the 2-0 win. Los Dos represented the Western Conference against eventual champion, the Rochester Rhinos, in the 2015 USL Championship match after finishing fifth in the Western Conference during the regular season.

SHORT WEEK: In 2015, Saint Louis FC played seven midweek matches on short rest after competing the previous weekend. Its record in those shortened weeks was 3-3-1 with two of the seven matches coming during their Open Cup run against Minnesota United and Sporting KC.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: STLFC, which fared better on the road than at home last season, is in the middle of a three-game road trip, the longest road trip it will take this season. In a similar three-game road trip to close out the away portion of the schedule in 2015, Saint Louis FC went 0-2-1 before returning home to win the final two games of the season. Saint Louis will look to recapture the success it had on the road in the early part of last season when it meets Los Dos in the StubHub Center Wednesday night.
