Match Preview:
Oakland Roots are coming off the team's first win in USL Championship history away at LA Galaxy II on May 23rd when striker Jeremey Bokila fired past the LA keeper to give Roots a dramatic last-minute victory. Following the game, Roots had another 10 days off as they prepared for their 3rd match of the season.
Ahead of the June 2nd game, Roots starting keeper Zeus de la Paz headed out on international duty for World Cup Qualification in CONCACAF for Curacao. In his aid, Roots signed Luis Barraza on loan from MLS side New York City FC. Joining Barraza in signing with the Roots is USL veteran defender Kai Greene. Both will be available for Coach Ferrell Wednesday night.
The match marks the return of Head Coach Jordan Ferrell to a club he worked at from 2017-2019.
The Republic are coming off a home loss to Pacific Division front runners Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night. Bringing the team from the 916 to two wins and two losses on the year from their first four games. Sacramento is led in attack by Tucker Bone who has two goals on the season and long time Republic talisman Cameron Iwasa.
