San Diego Loyal News Release
San Diego, CA - San Diego Loyal SC (SD Loyal) announced today the acquisition of defender Callum Montgomery on loan from Minnesota United FC, pending league and federation approval.
"Callum is a player we're very excited to bring to San Diego and we're grateful to Minnesota United for allowing him to come here on loan," said Landon Donovan, EVP of Soccer Operations and Manager. "He has great leadership qualities, he immediately fits in with the team and he's an excellent passer. He will help us a lot on and off the field."
Montgomery, 24, was selected 4th overall by FC Dallas in 2019 MLS SuperDraft and played with San Antonio FC on loan from FC Dallas in 2020 where he made nine appearances and scored two goals. Most recently, prior to joining SD Loyal on loan, MNUFC acquired the defender from FC Dallas in exchange for 2022 4th Round MLS SuperDraft pick.
