New York Red Bulls II News Release
CHESTER, PA - New York Red Bulls II (8-5-4, 30 pts.) travel down Interstate 95 to face Philadelphia Union II (6-8-4 24 pts.) at Subaru Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET and coverage is available on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV.
These two clubs are getting ready for their second matchup of the season, with the first contest resulting in a 2-1 victory for Philadelphia at MSU Soccer Park. Nelson Pierre recorded the brace for his side that was good enough to seal the win on the road. Ricardo Gorday scored the lone goal for New York from the penalty spot in the 78th minute, but Red Bulls II were unable to make the comeback.
Philadelphia most recently came back from a match against Toronto FC II with a point after falling in the shootout, 4-2. The match ended regulation tied 1-1, with Jeremy Rafanello scoring an incredible volley for Philadelphia that will most definitely be considered for Goal of the Year in MLS NEXT Pro.
Red Bulls II are coming off an up and down stretch in recent matches, with the most recent being a 3-2 loss against New York City FC II at home. Ricardo Gorday and Ibrahim Kasule were the goal scorers for New York, with Kasule continuing his incredible run of form as of late.
Over the last eight matches, Kasule recorded seven goals and four assists, having tallied at least one in each of those eight. The midfielder has now recorded a goal and an assist in four of those eight matches. Kasule recently received a short-term loan with the first team for last week's matches against New England and FC Cincinnati.
On the defensive end, Red Bulls II currently rank first in the Eastern Conference and fifth in MLS NEXT Pro in least goals allowed with 20. The fantastic play of A.J. Marcucci has led to New York posting the third highest save percentage in MLS NEXT Pro at 77%.
New York is looking to right the ship on the road and go for back to back wins away from MSU Soccer Park. After starting the season on a five match road unbeaten streak, Red Bulls II have fallen back to the mean with a 3-2-3 away record. With the last road match being a 3-0 win against Inter Miami CF II, New York will attempt to maintain that momentum tonight in Chester.
Coverage is available on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV.
