NEW YORK - Chicago Fire FC II (6-6-6-1) earned two points on the road Sunday with a 2-2 draw at NYCFC II (8-7-3-1). Charlie Ostrem scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season to open the match, while Omari Glasgow bookended the scoring with his fourth of the year in stoppage time. The Fire was then perfect from the spot to earn their first shootout victory of the season and the additional road point.

On a hot and humid evening in Queens, the teams did not have to wait long for goals following the opening whistle. Just four minutes into the match, the Fire brought several players into the opposing box looking for an opening. Sergio Oregel, Jr. found some room near the top of the 18, where Ostrem arrived. The defender shook off a defender before unleashing a hard shot into the corner of the goal.

The home side wasted no time getting even. Applying some pressure while high up the field, New York forced a Fire turnover that Jack Beer took advantage of. He simply rifled a shot high and away from Mihajlo Mišković to equalize the match at one goal apiece only two minutes after conceding the opener.

With less than 10 minutes left in the second half, NYCFC II took the lead. A long ball down the right wing found Jonathan Jiménez, who ran to the byline before putting a pass across goal. John Denis slid toward the far post and tipped the ball home for the go-ahead goal. New York held on and went into the break with the lead.

The visitors burst out of the gates in the second half looking for an equalizer. After New York defender Christian McFarlane was sent off on his second yellow card, the Fire poured on the attack. But despite outshooting New York 13-3 throughout much of the second half, it took until stoppage time for the visitors to find the goal. Billy Hency deftly wove down the byline and laid the ball off to Glasgow, who crashed in late to finish and give his side a deserved 2-2 draw.

The Fire sought a different outcome from their last shootout just a week prior. Noah Hernandez once again led off with a good shot, and Mišković saved John Denis' opening shot to hold Chicago in the lead after one round. Despite NYCFC II making each of their ensuing shots, Noah Egan, Ostrem, Matteo Kidd and Alex Monis were perfect, earning the shootout victory and an additional point on the road.

Chicago will remain on the East Coast next week, this time making the trip south to Central Florida to face Orlando City B on Sunday, July 23. First kick from Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT. The match can be streamed on MLSNEXTPro.com.
