
Nyassi, Cummings and Ceus Called up to National Teams

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, August 26, 2011) - Colorado Rapids players Sanna Nyassi (The Gambia), Omar Cummings (Jamaica), and Steward Ceus (Haiti) have been called up to their respective National Teams for upcoming international matches. The players will join Jeff Larentowicz, who was selected to the United States National Team, in playing games from September 2-6, and the players will return to the Rapids before the team's match on September 9 at the LA Galaxy.
Forward Sanna Nyassi will represent The Gambia for a September 4 match against Namibia, an African Cup of Nations qualifier, to be held in Windhoek, Namibia. Nyassi has made five appearances for the Scorpions, most recently on August 10 in a 3-0 defeat of the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-0 in Banjul, Gambia in an international friendly.
Omar Cummings has been called up by the Jamaican National Team for a friendly against Ecuador in Quito, Ecuador on September 2, as part of the team's preparations for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches in October. Cummings has been a regular for the Reggae Boyz, scoring seven goals in 24 appearances since 2008. He recently played the full 90 for Jamaica in a friendly against China on August 10, which China won 1-0.
Goalkeeper Steward Ceus, who starred for the Rapids in Tuesday's CONCACAF Champions League match against Honduras' Real España, has been called up by Haiti for upcoming CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches. The Grenadiers take on the U.S. Virgin islands on September 2 in Port-Au-Prince and Curaçao on September 6 in Willemstad, Curaçao. Ceus has three caps with the Haitian National Team, earning a 1-1-1 record and one shutout since his 2010 debut.
