
Nuts Unable to Complete Sweep in 4-3 Loss

Stockton, CA. - A walk-off walk ended the Modesto Nuts' three-game winning streak with a 4-3 loss to the Stockton Ports on Tuesday night at Banner Island Ballpark.
Luis Niebla (L, 1-1) worked the eleventh and surrendered two singles before an intentional walk loaded the bases for the Ports (11-15; 38-58). Niebla issued a walk to John Nogowski on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.
Carlos Navas (W, 3-5) struck out five in two sharp innings out of the bullpen for the Ports.
Ryan Castellani started the game for the Nuts (10-16; 36-60) and worked 6.2 innings while allowing three runs with a season-high six walks. He exited after the Ports tied the game with a two-run triple by Melvin Mercedes in the seventh.
Collin Ferguson had given the Nuts the lead with a RBI single in the fifth as part of a 2-for-3 day. Luis Jean drove in a run with a RBI single. Wes Rogers went 2-for-5 with a RBI knock in the sixth.
Logan Cozart tossed 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts and no walks.
