RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - Trent Thornton rebounded after a tough first inning and the JetHawks rallied for a 5-4 win to split the four-game series with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Tuesday night at LoanMart Field.

Thornton (7-4) allowed three runs on five hits in the first inning to put the JetHawks behind early. Edwin Rios hit a two-run home run against the right-hander, and Joey Curletta added a solo homer later in the frame.

Thornton did not allow a run and yielded just two hits over his next five innings. The right-hander matched a career-high with nine strikeouts and walked one over his six innings.

The JetHawks (52-44) got on the board to begin the game on a Bobby Boyd leadoff home run against rehabbing Dodgers reliever Yimi Garcia. The home run was Boyd's eighth of the season and his third leadoff home run.

Bryan Muniz cut the Quakes' lead to one with an RBI-single in the third inning against Josh Sborz (7-4). Lancaster put three on the board against Sborz in the fifth inning to chase him from the game and take the lead. Brooks Marlow picked up an RBI with a ground ball to first base and reached on a Matt Beaty throwing error. Boyd later singled home two runs to knock Sborz from the game.

The Quakes (56-40) scored an unearned run in the eighth to make the score 5-4.

Ryan Deemes pitched a scoreless eighth inning and retired the first two batters in the ninth before issuing two two-out walks. Kevin Comer entered from the bullpen and got Edwin Rios to foul out to catcher Trent Woodward to end the game. Comer earned his first save.

Ramon Laureano finished 0-for-3 with two walks to end his hitting streak at 14 games.

The JetHawks have an off day on Wednesday before returning home to begin a four-game series against the High Desert Mavericks. First pitch on Thursday is 6:35 p.m.
