Modesto Nuts News Release
San Jose, CA - The Nuts put runners on base in all but two innings but failed to break through with the big inning against the Giants in a 4-1 loss on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium.
The Nuts (10-25) loaded the bases twice and stranded nine runners against the Giants' (15-20) pitching staff on Thursday night. Their lone run scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning against Giants' starter Joe Biagini (W, 1-2).
Matt Flemer (L, 3-3) suffered the tough luck loss after working six innings and allowing just one run-scoring hit. The righty was perfect through the first three innings before Jesus Galindo laid down a bunt single to start the fourth. After recording the next two outs, Flemer issued a walk and a two-out, two-run double to Brain Ragira. The righty allowed just two hits while striking out five. The Giants tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning thanks to a two-run double by Blake Miller against reliever Rayan Gonzalez.
The Nuts open a three-game set against the Ports on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m.
