JetHawks Take Series, Top Spot in South

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - Tony Kemp and Teoscar Hernandez combined for a big night at the top of the order as the JetHawks beat the Lake Elsinore Storm, 3-2, to claim first place in the South Division on Thursday night at The Diamond.
With the win, the JetHawks (21-14) took three out of four in the series and moved a game ahead of the Storm (20-15).
The JetHawks got on the board in the first inning against rehab starter Casey Kelly. Kemp led off with a double, moved to third on a Hernandez bunt single and scored on Carlos Correa's line drive base-hit to left field.
Lake Elsinore tied the game against Mike Hauschild in the second inning. Diego Goris started the frame with a double and eventually scored on a Luis Domoromo sacrifice fly.
Lancaster grabbed the lead back when Kemp scored again in the third. The leadoff man singled and was promptly driven home by Hernandez on a double into the left field corner.
Hauschild allowed the Storm to tie the game in the fifth inning. Hunter Renfroe reached on an infield single, moved to third on an error and scored on Jeremy Rodriguez single.
Hauschild finished the night allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.
Daniel Minor (3-1) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win and Tyson Perez pitched the final two innings to earn the save. The JetHawks bullpen finished the series by allowing just one run in 20 1/3 innings.
The JetHawks scored the winning run in the seventh inning. With runners at first and third, Kemp hit a dribbler up the first base line to score Jordan Scott. Kemp reached on the RBI infield single.
Perez struck out Rodriguez with two runners in scoring position to end the game in the ninth.
The JetHawks head to Adelanto to take on the High Desert Mavericks on Friday night in the first of a three-game series. Vince Velasquez will pitch against Scott DeCecco. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
