Join the Modesto Nuts Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for baseball fun for the whole family at John Thurman Field! Cheer the Nuts to victory as they take on the Visalia Rawhide, who currently own the best record in the Cal League. Here's a look at what the Nuts have planned this weekend...
Thursday, April 23 - College Night, Teacher Appreciation, Thirsty Thursday and Best of Modesto Wing Tasting The Modesto Nuts have dedicated April 23 to educators and their support staff on Teacher Appreciation Night! From the time the gates open until the third inning of the game, fans can cast their vote in the Best of Modesto Wing Tasting Contest, and enjoy $1 domestic beers from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and $1 soft drinks all evening long!
Friday, April 24 - Tobacco Awareness Night and Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Stanislaus County Tobacco Prevention, City of Ceres and Stanislaus County Environmental Services The Nuts have partnered with Stanislaus County Tobacco Prevention to bring fans Tobacco Awareness Night at John Thurman Field! A fireworks extravaganza and base race for the kids will follow the educational evening, and fans can enjoy $3 Coors Light drafts until the seventh inning.
Saturday, April 25 - Go Green Night and Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by City of Modesto Solid Waste
City of Modesto Solid Waste and the Modesto Nuts bring fans Go Green Night on April 25! Those in attendance to this Saturday night game will learn all about ways they can help the environment by "Going Green." A fireworks extravaganza and base race for the kids will conclude this fun evening at the ballpark!
Sunday, April 26 - Exercise/Health Awareness Night and Wally the Walnut's Birthday
Celebrate Wally the Walnut's birthday at John Thurman Field on April 26th! Wally and friends will be present for the festivities and fans can extend a special birthday wish to Wally on his giant birthday card. The Nuts will also share Exercise and Health tips throughout the game.
Nuts Improve to 9-5 on the Road
The Modesto Nuts return to John Thurman Field on Thursday after a seven-game road swing against the Visalia Rawhide and Stockton Ports, and will be looking to improve their 9-5 record as Visalia visits John Thurman Field for four games. Maikol Gonzalez, Jason Van Kooten, Radames Nazario and Charlie Blackmon lead Modesto hitters as Gonzalez boasts a .318 average and six RBI, while Van Kooten sits at .295 on the season, and Nazario holds a .283 average to date. Blackmon, who turned up the heat during the Nuts road trip, is holding steady with a solid .271 and six RBI, as all four hitters enter the weekend series swinging hot bats.
Bruce Billings and Connor Graham lead Nuts hurlers, as Billings has struck out 12 and given up just four hits in 10.1 innings over two starts. Graham sits at 2-0 on the season with a 2.45 ERA and 11 strikeouts to date.
The Nuts are ready for a tough four-game set against the Visalia Rawhide, who come to John Thurman Field boasting a 12-2 record, and a 3-1 advantage over the Nuts so far in 2009. John Thurman Field promises to be an exciting place Thursday through Sunday, with not only fun promotions, good food, drink specials and fanfare, but a great baseball game on the field too!

The Modesto Nuts 2009 Skills Camp is designed by professional athletes for those who enjoy playing baseball. All sessions are taught by Colorado Rockies minor league professional baseball players and coaches. Develop your young athletes skills at this intensive three-morning camp.
