New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs have announced the addition of infielder Abraham Nunez, most recently with the Nashville Sounds, and that outfielder Brady Clark has undergone season-ending surgery.

The 32-year-old Nunez appeared in 33 games with Nashville, batting .210 with four RBI. He was released last week after the Sounds had Rule V pick Callix Crabbe returned to them from the San Diego Padres.

Nunez spent each of the last two seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, primarily as a part-time starter at third base. He set career highs with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2005 by hitting .285 with 44 RBI in 139 games. Nunez also spent parts of eight seasons in the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Clark, 35, underwent season-ending microfracture knee surgery last week. He had not played since May 8, and was placed on the disabled list last Thursday. Clark appeared in just six games for the Zephyrs, going 7-for-23. He had joined the team after being designated for assignment by the New York Mets on April 24.

The Zephyrs begin an eight-game homestand against the Albuquerque Isotopes and Round Rock Express on Friday, May 23rd 7:00 PM CT. For more information and to purchase tickets, please call the Zephyrs at (504) 734-5155.
