
Number 2 Pick Reports to E-Town

Elizabethton River Riders News Release
Outfielder Byron Buxton, the No. 2 overall selection in this year's First-Year Player Draft reported to the Elizabethton Twins today.
Buxton, 18, played his high school baseball at Appling County High School in Georgia. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound outfielder batted .513 with 17 doubles, three homers and 35 RBI during his senior season. The speedy Buxton also stole 38 bases and was named First Team Rawlings Preseason All-American.
"We are very excited about having Byron in Elizabethton", said General Manager Mike Mains. "From everything I've heard he is an outstanding young man and we certainly look forward to watching him play. We have been extremely fortunate through the years to have been able to see some great talent in Elizabethton. I believe our fans will be just as excited to see Byron, and the rest of our team play."
The E-Twins start a three game series in Johnson City tonight.
