Maryland Black Bears News Release
The Maryland Black Bears eyed its third straight win over the Northeast Generals after sweeping them two weeks ago in a two-game series. That series saw the Black Bears explode offensively to outscore the Generals 10-3 in the two games. This time it was Northeast who got the offensive outburst, riding a two-goal first period to a 6-3 win.
The Generals started with two goals from forward Paul Minnehan to see the score 2-0 after the first period. Maryland responded in the second period with a goal from forward Dimitry Kebreau on an odd-man rush to make it 2-1. Northeast was able to respond later in the period with a powerplay goal from forward Kyle Schroeder to take a 3-1 lead headed into the third.
Aden Bruich got the Black Bears back to within a goal, burying a shot from the slot to make it 3-2. However, the Generals would retake its two-goal lead again with a wrist shot goal from David Andreychuk for a 4-2 lead. Northeast would ice the game with two empty-net goals, first from Douglas Friberg to take a 5-2. Dimitry Kebreau would get a goal back for Maryland to cut the deficit to 5-3, but another empty-net goal for the Generals was scored by Brent Keefer to seal the deal. Northeast would end the game with a 6-3 win.
These two teams will rematch tomorrow night at Piney Orchard Ice Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM ET.
