Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
The Johnstown Tomahawks won 4-0 Saturday night, splitting the weekend series against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in Connecticut.
Despite the 1st period ending scoreless, there was no shortage of shots on goal with shots being 23-11 in favor of Johnstown. In the final minutes of the period, both teams exchanged back and forth chances but goaltenders Tommy Heaney and Adam Johnson both stood strong, keeping the puck out of the net.
Zachary Murray put the Tomahawks on the board first early in the 2nd period, with his eighth goal of the season coming on the power play. Johnstown put up 16 more shots in the middle frame and Danbury added on 11 more, but the story continues with both netminders keeping pucks out of the net for their teams.
Murray opens the 3rd period with his second goal of the game, putting the Tomahawks up by 2 just 39 seconds in. It was all Tomahawks for the rest of the game as forwards David Matousek and TJ Koufis added to the scoresheet in the first half of the period to make it 4-0 Hawks. Heaney earned the shutout, making 32 saves.
The Tomahawks are back in Johnstown next weekend on Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30 against the New Jersey Titans at 1ST SUMMIT ARENA. Saturday night, the Tomahawks will be wearing special breast cancer jerseys as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Night Presented by Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game via DASH Auctions. Tickets can be purchased via ticketmaster.com or through the Tomahawks office.
