North Shore Spirit News Release
John Kelly tossed 7 2/3 shutout innings as the North Shore Spirit snapped a four game losing skid with a 6-0 victory over the Grays Saturday night.
Kelly (3-1) allowed only four hits while striking out a season high 14 batters. The Spirit ace finished just three strikeouts shy of tying the league record. Gray's starter Vinny DeChristofaro (0-3) suffered the loss.
The Spirit gave Kelly all the run support he would need in the sixth. Andy Howdeshell led off with a walk and advanced to second on a base hit by Vic Davilla. Travis Oglesby made it 2-0 with a ringing double to the gap in right center. Brian Macchi and Alex Trezza followed with back-to-back RBI triples. Rob Fischer put North Shore up by five with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
The Spirit tacked on an insurance run in the seventh. After a Davilla single, Oglesby picked up his third RBI of the evening with a double to right.
