North Shore Spirit News Release
Francisco Lebron homered twice as the Grays downed the North Shore Spirit 10-5 Sunday afternoon.
Grays starter Roberto Nieves (1-1) was credited with the win. Nieves allowed just one earned run over six innings of work. Ryan Bicondoa (2-2) struggled for the Spirit, giving up 8 runs over 3 1/3 innings.
The Grays opened the scoring in the second. With two outs, Willy King singled and advanced to third on a double by Larry Best. Brad Hargraves then put the Grays ahead 2-0 with an RBI single to center. North Shore quickly responded with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom half of the second.
In the third, the Grays regained the advantage. An RBI basehit by Greg Strickland and a sac fly by BJ Weed put the visitors up by two.
The floodgates would open in the fourth. Lebron leadoff with a long homerun to left, his third of the season. The Grays would tack on three more thanks to a single, two walks and a Spirit fielding error.
The Grays put two more on the board in the fifth, highlighted by Lebron's second long ball of the game. After five, North Shore found themselves trailing 10-2.
The Spirit would inch closer in the seventh. Rob Fischer leadoff with a walk and scored three batters later on an Alex Trezza RBI single. North Shore would push across single runs in both the eighth and the ninth, making the final score 10-5.
