August 7, 2014 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release

Ted Boeke and Kelly Norris-Jones made the most of their opportunities in a 9-1 win for the Victoria HarbourCats over the host Walla Walla Sweets on Wednesday night.

Boeke, the third baseman, had a two-run home run and a two-run double to key the offence, and Norris-Jones, acting as the designated hitter, was 2-4 with two runs driven in and three runs scored. Boeke was 3-4, while Hunter Mercado-Hood was 3-6.

Alan Baldwin, who had a double, and Griffin Andreychuk chipped in with two-hit nights as the HarbourCats piled up 15 hits, eight more than the Sweets.

Both teams are out of the playoff chase.

The star on the mound for Victoria was Alex FaGalde, who gave the team a much-needed extended start, going seven innings with nine strikeouts and six hits allowed. Andrew Nelson cleaned up with two scoreless innings.

The HarbourCats, who send Nanaimo product Alex Rogers to the hill on Thursday night in the series finale before an overnight bus trip back to Victoria for the final home weekend, scored twice in the second inning and five times in the third inning to take control. Another pair of runs in the ninth inning secured the win, striking out a pair.

Walla Walla's lone run came in the third inning.

Friday's home game is Mike's Hard Lemonade Military Appreciation Night presented by BELL Media, and Saturday's game is Wallace Driving School Fireworks presented by CHEK-TV. Sunday, an afternoon game, is Pure Day Spa Fan Appreciation game.
