Normal CornBelters News Release

Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, are looking for families, couples or individuals within the Bloomington-Normal area to house players for the 2013 season. The Host Family Program provides players with a "home away from home" from early May through mid-September. The CornBelters will play their first regular season home game of the 2013 season at The Corn Crib on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. versus the Windy City ThunderBolts ("CEFCU Opening Night").

"We've been truly blessed to have fantastic host families, and players, our first three seasons," said CornBelters General Manager, Kyle Kreger. "While our roster size stays the same from season to season, households can change. As a result, we're always in need of new participants in the program."

The program is derived from a variety of factors from a player's standpoint. Such factors include the difficulty in finding a lease for only a few months, the possibility of playing for the team for a limited time and/or the limited salaries that accompany professional baseball at this level of play.

There is absolutely no fee involved for participating in the program. All host families receive four (if one player hosted) or six (if two players hosted) of the best available tickets for all 52 CornBelters home games, two VIP parking passes for each game, a 10% discount on CornBelters merchandise and the first opportunity to purchase tickets for special events at The Corn Crib (concerts, etc.)!

To participate in the program, a brief application must first be completed. An application, and more detailed information, can be found at: http://www.normalbaseball.com/host-family/. Once it is submitted, a member of the front office staff will reach out to arrange an interview in the prospective home where the player will be living. Based on the application, interview and several other factors, a specific player will be placed in the home by the start of spring training.

THE NIBLET : CornBelters individual game tickets will officially go on sale to the general public Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. Tickets to all 52 CornBelters home games during the 2013 season start at only $5 each! They can be purchased in-person at the Mid-Illini Credit Union Box Office, or over the phone at (309) 454-2255 (BALL), during normal business. They can also be purchase online (http://www.normalbaseball.com) anytime!
