Maryland Black Bears News Release
The Maryland Black Bears, fresh off a 5-3 win over the Maine Nordiques, looked to complete the sweep on its East Division foe. Maine had other ideas, however, shutting the Black Bears out and picking up a 3-0 win.
The Nordiques got the scoring started with an early first period power-play goal from defenseman Mathew Connor to make it 1-0. There was no scoring until mid-way through the third period, where Maine forward Dom Marcinkevics had a puck deflect off of him and into the net to make it 2-0. Nordiques forward Caden Pattison finished off the scoring by stuffing in a rebound on the power-play to make it 3-0. Maine goaltender Gus Holt made 46 saves in the shutout effort while Maryland goalie Luca Di Pasquo made 24 stops on the night.
The Maryland Black Bears will hit the road next weekend, taking on the New Jersey Titans on Friday, October 1st, and then the Johnstown Tomahawks on Saturday, October 2nd. This will be Maryland's first game in Johnstown since upsetting the Tomahawks in the first round of the playoffs last season.
The Black Bears return home Friday, October 8th, for a two-game series with the Northeast Generals. All games can be streamed live on HockeyTV.
